Carolyn Hansen Fraser, of Alamo, California passed away June 3, 2003 at home. She was a lifelong volunteer for children's causes and a founding member and former president of the Danville Children's Guild and 30-year volunteer for the Lincoln Child Center of Oakland, California.
       She was recently honored by them with the James Mann award for Outstanding Service.
        A graduate from Oregon State College, she was a 35-year resident of Alamo. Widely known for her love of animals, she was a frequent sight on the Iron Horse Trail over the years with her dogs.
        She was renowned and loved for her upbeat outlook, wonderful smile and was blessed with an
enormous circle of friends.
        She enjoyed a full life, having skied extensively over north America and travelling both domestically and throughout the world.
        She is survived by her husband of 40 years, John; daughters; Heather Frawser of Pleasant Hill and Kimberly Freitas of San Rafael, her son-in-law John Freitas, two grandsons, Connor and Hayden and her brother David Hansen '60, of Tucson, Arizona.
        The family has requested donations to the Lincoln Child Center, 4368 Lincoln Avenue, Oakland, CA 94602.
        Her husband John also writes that "she enjoyed her days at Carmel High with great fondness and she attended several reunions. She had a wonderful mini-reunion before her death with Carmel High School Class of 1956 classmates Robin Burnham Holt, Susan Castagna, Trulee Scarlett Ricketts and Gail McCarry Scearce. They all spent two days revisiting places that were dear to them as teenagers.
        She was thrilled to be a part of it."
